1. Who is behind this blog? What is your background?
Learn who is behind this blog and see more about my background in the about page.
2. Why did you launch this blog?
See why I launched this blog in my article about the main benefits of having a technical blog.
3. What technology and theme do you use to write this blog and the articles?
This blog is written in R using the {blogdown}
package and Hugo, and deployed and hosted via Netlify.
Regarding the theme, I wanted to focus on the information I provide in my articles and did not want to distract readers with too many features, so I chose the Renga theme, which is a minimalist theme for Hugo/blogdown. As the blog evolved, I made minor changes to the code that I considered important.
The code of this website can be found on GitHub.
4. I am new to this blog, to R or to statistics, from where can I start?
If you are new to this blog, you can start with the following articles:
- How to install R and RStudio
- How to import an Excel file in RStudio
- Data manipulation in R
- Descriptive statistics by hand and in R
Alternatively, you can check all articles with the tag “Basics”.
5. Can I reuse or translate the content of your blog?
Yes, but bear in mind that I take no responsibility for the code or the results you obtain from it.
If you use my code or material in your own project, please reference the source, including:
- Name of the author: “Antoine Soetewey”
- Title of the article or tutorial
- Name of the website: “Stats and R”
- URL of the article or tutorial
- Date you accessed or copied the code
For example:
Antoine Soetewey, Outliers detection in R, Stats and R. Retrieved from https://statsandr.com/blog/outliers-detection-in-r/, accessed on November 3rd, 2020.
If your work is public, feel free to send it to me so I can check it out.
I am also very happy to see translations of my blog posts. Let me know about your translation so that I can link to it in the original blog post.
6. I would like to replicate an analysis you have done in one of your article, can I have access to the entire code?

Thanks in advance for your feedback, I will correct the post as soon as possible!
8. I have a question, how can I contact you?
In order for me to answer you as soon as possible, here are the best communication methods:
- If you have a question or a suggestion related to a specific article, please add it as a comment so other readers can benefit from the discussion

9. Is it possible to write a guest post or contribute to this blog?
Absolutely! To share your post on this blog (as a guest post), please see more information on the contribution page.
I am open to other forms of collaborations too. See more information in this section.
10. How can I support you and support this blog?
You can support the development of this blog via the support page. Thanks in advance for your support, any help is greatly appreciated!
11. Can you link to my website?
Thank you for your interest.
With the exception of a few rare cases, I will not add your link to one of my article for two simple reasons:
- There are plenty of great resources online (yours included). This means that if I accept your request, I will have to accept requests from everyone else
- I link to content that I think will help my readers learn something about statistics or R at the time I write each article
If you believe you have a relevant contribution to an article, feel free to post it in the comments of that article. It is an excellent way to contribute to the ongoing discussion and readers will be able to check your work.
Thank you for your understanding!
12. Can you write about this specific topic?
Suggestions about specific topics are always welcome. As written in this post, I only write about subjects I am familiar with in order to be as precise and complete as possible.
So if I am familiar with the topic you suggested and I have some free time, I will definitely write about it. However, if I am not an expert in the field, I will let you know and I will try to redirect you to more knowledgeable persons.
13. Would you do one-on-one teaching or consulting?
Not at the moment, but you can always contact me with your request and I will transfer it to my colleagues who might be able to help you.
